About the Business
Brookdale is one of Brooklyn's largest voluntary nonprofit teaching hospitals, a regional tertiary care center, and is a level II trauma center. It provides 24-hour emergency services and long-term specialty care, has outpatient programs, and is one of 14 New York State DOH designated Stroke Centers in Brooklyn.[6] It provides outpatient ambulatory care services in both on campus and off site facilities. Brookdale specializes in rehabilitative medicine and long-term specialty care in its Schulman and Schachne Institute for Nursing and Rehabilitation and in addition is home to 86 units of assisted living and independent housing in the Arlene and David Schlang Pavilion, a federally subsidized housing project.[7]
In 1970, NYU's Medical Center and School of Medicine initiated an "affilitation agreement" to enhance training and provide student exchange opportunities.[8]
In 2023, One Brooklyn Health at Brookdale Hospital became an MBSAQIP-accredited Center of Excellence for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. This program is led by Dr. Theadore Hufford who is also the Chief of General and MIS Surgery.

20 Oct, 2024The hospital gets 1 star . That’s all it’s worth . The wait time & some nurses attitudes are disgusting . Some places & items are not properly cleaned . But nurse mcgrath WAS THE BESTTT 🥹🩷 literally a nurse/mother/sister/bestfriend all in one . She was very attentive of me , caring & made sure I was ALWAYSS alright . I mean always . I’ll never forget her & a few nurses I met upstairs in gyn/maternity floor they were also very kind,loving & attentive . I’ll just say the hospital needs to be updated . The rooms lights tvs beds , showers toilets , everything to be honest . It all needs to be fixed & remodeled . Nurses in er some not all . Have such a nasty attitude . They don’t care about anything you gotta say & ignore you . Stop leaving us in the hall … we have all these people pass us coughing , sick , non caring , no respect . A lady once tried to steal my bag in the er waiting on the bed side .. lucky I was watching around and seen her trying Make it more like south Brooklyn hospital it’s fast , clean & people are very caring/kind . Kindness is free . Why take a job if you’re gonna have an attitude & take your anger out on patients ? Just hire people with good attitude , you can tell who’s faking it or not be fr . & renovate the hospital the hospital by parts . I know this area isn’t the best but I live by the area this is the closest hospital to me I rather go to south Brooklyn hospital but hey this is what’s closest.

24 Nov, 2024My care and experience at Brookdale Hospital was superb. The care and medical treatment I received was exceptional. The doctors and support staff assigned to my case, were very professional, attentive, caring, thus enabling me to get back on my feet confidently and securely. That said I highly recommend their services. A very satisfied and thankful client / patient.

14 Dec, 2024In July 2023, I was admitted to the psychiatric ward on the top floor. I was 15. I was scared, but felt better when I met the nurses downstairs. There was a nice Ukrainian lady who escorted me upstairs. This also boosted my comfort. After I had eaten, I was asked to answer the same questions I was asked downstairs (e.g “Do you often feel upset for no obvious reason?”, “Do you have self-damaging urges?”, etc”). I was asked for my name for the 3rd time in the same hour. I gave my first and last name, then my preferred first name just in case. The nurse didn’t care, but I didn’t mind. I knew that some people were just like that and also thought about their policies. I was asked to go to sleep at 2 AM, but because this was a new setting, it took me a while. The nurses were irritated that I was still awake, but were passive aggressive about it. The moment I laid down, there was another nurse. I couldn’t tell if it was the same one who only asked for my legal name, since they have the same accent. Same nurse or not, she was loud. She had her voice louder than it should be at such an hour, rambling about how “everything was gay nowadays.” I knew that not everyone was supportive of LGBTQ people, so I respected her opinion. But to be so loud about it when people are trying to sleep is EXTREMELY disrespectful. I don’t care if you’re homophobic, but please have the basic human decency to be quiet.

27 Sep, 2024The fact that my birth hospital is still open after messing up surgery’s, giving the a newborn AIDS threw a blood transfusion back in the 90’s etc. This hospital needs a while new evaluation because still reading horror stories about how bad the staff treats people is unsettling even in the day and age of almost being 2025. You’re better off going to Kings County hospital because your questions and concerns might actually get noticed. And I’m pretty sure your wait time in the ER is still 8 hours. This ain’t the 80’s or 90’s and I get some people are not respectful but as a medical professional everyone deserves proper treatment and sympathy. Do better !!!

17 Oct, 2024this is the worst hospital I have ever seen. my grandfather was brought in Sunday for a stroke and they messed up his intake for two days. then they said they would take him for an MRI and it’s been two days and it hasn’t happened and they don’t know when they’ll take him. don’t even try to call and check in on your loved ones because they’ll leave you on the phone with no answer. unacceptable.
