NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital was founded in 1771 as New York Hospital by Edinburgh Medical School graduate Samuel Bard. The hospital was granted a Royal Charter granted by King George III of Great Britain and became associated with Weill Cornell Medical College upon Weill Cornell's founding in 1898. It is the third oldest hospital in the United States, after Bellevue Hospital in New York City (1736) and Pennsylvania Hospital (1751).

In 1927, the hospital had grown its endowment to more than $20 million, largely due to the leadership of Payne Whitney who expanded the hospital significantly; Payne Whitney Psychiatric Clinic is named in Whitney's honor. Other prominent donors have included Howard Hughes, William Randolph Hearst, Harry and Leona Helmsley, Maurice R. Greenberg, and others. The Presbyterian Hospital was founded in 1868 by James Lenox, a New York philanthropist and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, also founded by Samuel Bard in 1767.

Love the staff and nurses here! Very friendly and very professional. I was treated with respect and the wait was not long at all. I recommend this place!

Maybe old staff was bad. But new staff is amazing. Always have a smile. And willing to help. Security man is so kind.

I’d honestly give this place 0 stars if I could. Their communication system is worse than before and it’s always been terrible. The fact that it’s gotten worse is baffling. I have the past hour trying to communicate with them via phone call to reschedule a very important missed appointment. I’m trying to communicate to reschedule and it’s always a problem. Their automatic voice mail box system (gives you options to pick from) put me on hold and then it just hung up. I called again and picked a different option to speak to a nurse, and she said she couldn’t help me and I tried explaining I called already and picked the option to schedule or reschedule an appointment and she said it’s not her job to help me with scheduling which, sure whatever that’s one thing. But if I’m explaining to you that your system is not properly working, I think she could’ve taken 2minutes to help me reschedule that appointment. It’s very unprofessional and a disservice to patients to literally dismiss them and put them on hold again with no guarantee that someone will help me. I have no idea what on earth I’m gonna do for my emergency rescheduling. I’m going to consider looking for a new office entirely. Last time I even had an in person visit, someone filled in for my doctor cuz she’s never there. And the person filling in also rushed my visit? I go all the way over there just to be rushed? And I call just to be dismissed? Unacceptable. Do better if you guys plan to stay open.

I don’t recommend it. Long waits and bad service. Don’t take Dr. Ruth Barrow, left me pregnant for 41 weeks knowing I had preeclampsia. I had to get an emergency c section. The umbilical cord was wrapped around my sons neck twice because she recommended I stood pregnant for an extra week. Like what? I went to the hospital multiple times in pain and was never scheduled a c section or anything. Horrible experience. Honestly very careless doctor.

I feel that staff on the second floor should be a little bit more professional ! They shouldn’t be speaking very loud about there personal life that us patients can listen to there stories i find that very unprofessional ! One more thing they should improve on is the cleaning ( EVS ) if the center was just opened how is it possible for it to be dirty especially the floor ! I walked in saw spills on the floor bottles underneath the chairs etc ! Nurse’s are fabulous and every other staff within this center they just need to work on the cleaning and front staff on the second floor to be more professional and not be speaking about personal private life that happened thats not professional and if they do they should wisper but not speak loud so patients can listen to there stories
