22 Sep, 2024I booked this online as Union Hotel, When I got here, they changed the name to " Essenes Hotel." If I ever come back to Brooklyn, I would never stay here. The rooms are small as hell! No frig, no microwave, no ice machine, not even a vending machine. The bed was hard, but the TV was great. Had a desk in the room that didn't work, plus it didn't have a chair to sit.

29 Nov, 2024Great space for hosting out of town guests for a tech workshop. Conveniently located near multiple firms of public transportation. The only downside was the hectic traffic in the area due to construction.

13 Nov, 2023So I made the mistake of booking this hotel before reading the reviews. I thought I'd save some money because I just needed a cheap hotel for the night, so I booked this hotel because it was the cheapest, but I really wish I would have have spent an extra $50 to stay somewhere else. Turns out all the 1 star reviews are correct. My entire room smelled like urine (maybe it was the mattress?), and the pillow case and bedding had holes from cigarette burns. The walls had holes that were sloppily patched. There was only a single flat pillow, and when I took the pillow case off it was yellow and stained, and even more cigarette holes underneath the pillow case. The whole room felt very unsanitary. I ended up not staying there and booked a different hotel, even though they wouldn't give me a refund, because I didn't feel comfortable, or safe, staying there.

08 Nov, 2023I do not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. The photos they have on their website aren’t what we saw when we checked in. Upon arrival no one was there to great us and when a woman finally came to the front she looked at us as if we were an inconvenience. When we got to our room, we had only one pillow and the sheets/pillowcase had grease stains and looked like they haven’t been washed. Bugs were in the air conditioning vent, along with a hole in the wall next to it.I didn’t feel safe the whole 20 minutes we were there before leaving to another hotel. We found a beautiful hotel nearby that cost $300 less than this horrible hotel. Don’t stay here!

30 Dec, 2023Do not stay here. I am not sure how this hotel is still in business. The photos they have on their website and online is not the same as what you get. This hotel is very rundown, dirty, the rooms are very small. The washroom wasn't even functioning well, mirrors was broken, there's a leak in the bathroom, broken double locks on the door. We did not feel safe when we stayed here in October. The staff also leaves after 7pm and only returns some time in the morning. No one is there to help you or provide you any service. Stay away from this hotel.
